Good afernoon. This is Principal McKinley.
Although the conditions for additional snow have passed, Okaloosa County Public Safety Director Patrick Maddox has informed us that the snow and ice are not expected to melt sufficiently in time for schools to reduce road and travel hazards for school buses to operate on Thursday. Though temperatures are expected to warm on Thursday, freezing temperatures will return Thursday evening into Friday. Due to the current road conditions in Okaloosa County, travel is not recommended unless absolutely necessary. Therefore, LJPS will remain closed on Thursday, January 23rd, and Friday, January 24th. School will resume on Monday, January 27th.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate this unprecedented weather. Stay warm and have a great day!
